In 1997, 23-year old stockbroker (and Wu-Tang fan) Ian Gold obtained ODB’s personal phone number and called him out of the blue. They talked for nearly 10 minutes about touring, Steve Rifkind, the stock market and more. The tape remained unreleased until Gold put it on Youtube and sent it to FADER magazine. He told the magazine “I have no clue why he kept me on the phone, I guess he liked bantering with me.” The tape was discovered by a friend of Gold’s who sent it to him.
