In the West Indies, especially Guyana and Trinidad, the term dugla is used to describe multi-racial people. While generally used to describe those of Indian and African ancestry, the term can also be extended to include those claiming Portugese or Native American heritage. A dugla can often be distinguished from a person solely of one race by his/her distinct hair of large curls (as opposed to the more coarse curls of blacks and straighter hair of indians)
